The Japan Times-University of Tokyo Joint International Symposium on Journalism

To mark the 110th anniversary of The Japan Times and the 130th anniversary of the University of Tokyo, the two institutions will host a symposium on the evolving role of English-language media in East Asia.

Keynote speaker Michel Temman, director and Japan representative of Reporters Without Borders, will give his perspective on the state of Japanese media, followed by a panel discussion on the value, relevancy and future of English-language media in East Asia, featuring prominent scholars and journalists from Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.
